Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) has released a video detailing the electroshocking of horses at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), which was held In Las Vegas in the first week of December.

The device this rodeo thug is holding is the Hot-Shot Power-Mite. Miller manufacturing, the creator of the device, has stated explicitly that it should not be used on horses, yet it was used repeatedly at the NFR
Using the video the that was aired on CBS Sports Network, we were able to discover a number of instances when rodeo personnel used an electro-shocking device on horses. These devices send thousands of volts of electricity into the horses to make them appear wild. Rodeos will do that because horse do not naturally buck unless they are in pain. In simple terms, these horses were tortured into performing.

SHARK has created a petition calling on CBS to sever all ties to the PRCA and NFR.

It wasn't just horses who were abused. Calves, who are only a few months old, were roped and brutalized. As you will see in the video, the camera was framed so the viewer would not see what happened when the rope around the calf's neck was jerked back and the animal clotheslined
Thanks to SHARK's efforts documenting the horrors of cownose ray killing contests, efforts are moving forward to ban these monstrous slaughters of pregnant rays.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has opened public comments on how rays should be managed. You can read an article about this HERE and HERE for the MD DNR’s web page.
The possible changes are listed HERE:
“Prohibit the use of projectile gear (archery equipment, gig, spear and spear gun) for taking cownose rays during the period from July 1 through December 31.”
While it is a very positive step that they are considering banning bowhunters from killing rays, the date the ban begins is too late, as the contests are held in June.
