The Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted 124 to 69 to send SB 71 back to committee. In other words the bill to ban the cruel practice of pigeon shooting in Pennsylvania is dead - or rather the pigeons who are unlucky enough to become part of this cruel "sport" will continue to die.
In a confusing interpretation of SB 71, the bill called for banning simulcasting of greyhound races from other states (a similar bill has been signed into law by Governor Corbett), banning the sale of dog and cat meat, increasing penalties for releasing exotic animals (let's learn from the horrible Ohio debacle), and banning live pigeon shoots. The pigeon shoot amendment was sponsored by Representative John Maher (R-Allegheny).
