DEAR FRIENDS,

As SHARK continues it’s efforts against a cormorant slaughter along the US/CA border on Lake Erie, we want to give you an update to the cruelty that is being committed.

Staff from Parks Canada have landed on the island and are shooting nesting birds by the dozens. A large concentration of cormorants fled the island and are on the water because otherwise they will be shot. Other birds are flying panicked around the island, trying not to be shot, along with those birds who are staying with their nests to protect their eggs from being destroyed.

We have been told that Tammy Dobbie, a Parks CA employee, is the person mainly responsible for the slaughter and that she is present during the shooting and calling the shots. From the horrors we’ve seen, including the maiming of the bird we rescued last week, there has to be something missing from your soul to desire such merciless carnage.

This is not about conservation, it’s about the ultimate cruelty of shooting animals that are trying to protect their offspring. Parks Canada and the Canadian government is staining itself with the blood of innocent animals and we need to make sure they know the world is watching.

Please continue to contact the Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and ask that the cormorant killing be shut down immediately!

Please be polite and respectful
